Thursday morning Bridge Basics
I love being able to offer classes on evenings and weekends that are
accessible to working folks.
But a lot of us want classes and games during the weekdays! No driving
at night required, no conflicts with weekend activities.
Starting *Thursday, February 23*, I'll be offering all three of the
acclaimed *Bridge Basics courses from Audrey Grant*: /Introduction/,
/Competitive Bidding/, and /Popular Conventions/. Each course meets for
six weeks at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday mornings.
Best of all, we get to enjoy the beautiful Pasadena Bridge Club, with
free parking, comfortable chairs, that great view of Mt. Wilson, fresh
coffee, and plenty of snacks on hand.
If you've been waiting for this announcement and your opportunity to
learn bridge or improve your game, pass the word on to your friends and
bring them with you to class!
Come try the first class of /Bridge Basics 1 - An Introduction/ on
Thursday February 23 at 9:00 a.m. *free with no obligation*. If you like
it and decide to stay, you can buy in for the rest of the series after
the first class.
Course fees for the three classes are $91 for Bridge Basics 1, and $135
each for Bridge Basics 2 and 3. To save your seat, just*reply to this

Thursday afternoon novice game
Along with the morning classes, starting February 23 I'm offering a
novice bridge game on *Thursday afternoons at 12:00 noon*. Each game
will last about two hours and fifteen minutes or so. We'll play 14 or 15
hands of bridge, and masterpoints will be awarded!
This is a game for students and new players. This will be your chance to
practice and learn all the skills you need to play bridge in clubs and
tournaments all over the world.
(Can't play on Thursday afternoons? Join us for our evening novice game,
currently on Monday evenings!)
More classes for all levels
Each of my class sessions will be rotating on to the next course in the
sequence in late February or early March. (The *Defense *class is truly
powerful.)

Monday Evenings are special
The Monday evening game is the one where *new bridge players* come to
learn and practice playing bridge the way we do at clubs and tournaments.
In 2017, I created the *BridgeMojo *game for Monday evenings. I rented a
Masonic hall in San Marino, and set up tables. The game ran for a year,
and continued at the San Marino Center next to the library.
It was a place for new players to get accustomed to *how duplicate
bridge works*. Learn how to keep score; pick up all the little details
involved in formal bridge tournaments. Get started with the right habits.
We played 14 hands on those Monday evening. It was a quick two hours of
bridge. After the game I would have a topic on the laws of bridge, a
play or defense tip, or other things you need to know whether you're
playing in a weekly club game or a national championship.
Let's do that again. It's just us! Come meet an old or new partner and
join us for a real bridge game. This could be the night where someone
earns their first masterpoints.
Drop me a note and let me know if you'd like to play! I'll find you a
partner if you need one. /We only need 12 players for a game!/
This is the game to do it. Play joyfully and fearlessly!

Social games with help!
Thursday evenings, 7:00, and Saturday mornings, 9:30. Come play with
friends, practice your bridge. Enjoy playing in comfortable
surroundings, free coffee and snacks, and first-class equipment..
Experienced players will be on hand to answer questions about making
bids and plays! Practice keeping score and reviewing hands.
Card fees: $13
Be a bridge mentor
If you're already an experienced bridge player, I need you to come join
our social games as a mentor. You'll be there to help answer questions
about bidding, play, and defense.
I'm not looking for Grand Life Masters, but players who love the game
and love working with newer players. No minimum experience required,
just a love of the game and understanding of Standard American bidding
and Chicago scoring.
Each session as a mentor will earn a Free Play for any game at the
Pasadena Bridge Club.
Novice Bridge Games
No bridge sharks! Come play official sanctioned bridge games with your
peers. Play 14 hands on Monday evenings, or 18 hands on Saturday afternoons.
/No players over 300 masterpoints./
Novice/intermediate Duplicate Bridge (299er games, 0-300 masterpoints):
* Monday evenings 7:00-9:00 p.m.
* Saturday afternoons 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Card fees: $15 on Saturday, $13 on Monday evening.
