649 N Fair Oaks Ave #201 Pasadena CA 91103 (626) 247-4457 pasadenabridgeclub.com There are a couple of courses starting soon that might
pique your interest! These courses are dynamite for
regular club players who want to level-up their game. Defense! How do you work with your partner to take all the tricks you can? The defenders are at a huge disadvantage at the table! Declarer can play with two hands, while you and your partner can't see each other's cards. This course works through all the common defense aphorisms, like "third hand high" and "cover an honor with an honor." We look at why they're usually true, and more importantly when they might be the wrong thing to do. The course runs on eight Thursday evenings, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., starting March 9. For a lesson plan and more information, drop by here: https://pasadenabridgeclub.com/course/defense Improving Your Judgment - DoublesThe start of this course was postponed one week because of the rain storms, but we still have plenty of time for five great sessions. We'll look in detail at takeout doubles, advancing, doubler's rebid, as well as seldom visited topics like balancing doubles. The course runs on Saturday mornings, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., for five Saturdays. The first class is in two days, March 4. Lesson plan and more information can be found here: https://pasadenabridgeclub.com/course/iyj_doubles Social / Supervised Play SessionsIf you'd like to enjoy a little unstructured time playing bridge hands, be sure to join us for our Social / Supervised sessions. I'll usually have an experienced and friendly bridge player on hand to offer tips, suggestions, and help guide your game as much as you'd like. This is the perfect place to practice if you're learning
to play, or if you just want to relax and enjoy the game
in pleasant surroundings. No partner required -- we'll
form partnerships at the game, and rotate in to the table
if need be. I currently have sessions on the calendar on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. I have another session ready to start soon on Thursday afternoons at 12:00 p.m. My hope is that the Thursday afternoon game will provide practice play for students, and grow into a regular full bridge game for novice players. Here's an offer: If you have a small group of
friends, and you'd like to use the bridge club for some
social bridge, we can usually do that! Drop me a note and
we'll arrange a time. Bridge LibraryDrop by the club soon and see the library of old and new bridge books on hand! It's great to browse the collection. We even have several years worth of Bridge News monthly publications!Best regards, Mojo |
